Is the mini microscooter the carbon footprint-free BMW of toddler travel?

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer got her daughter one after all, and every second young child on Brighton beach seems to be zipping along on one these days.

What is the difference between this and more run-of-the-mill scooters?

With its unusual 2 front and single back wheel design, this trendy threewheeler looks good...

...and is right up there with pedal-less balance bikes and crocs as the latest in thing for trendy parents.

“A friend of mine came to stay with her 2-year-old who was scooting around effortlessly on one of these.

I was so impressed that I bought one for my son. Now my youngest – who is 18 months old – is almost getting the hang of it too!

I think the wheels at the front and one at the back helps toddlers keep their balance better than with traditional 2 wheeler scooters.

It also has good suspension which stops him falling off.

It is very lightweight and easy to carry around – I just put it in the buggy and it’s no problem to transport.”

My son had a go and loved it (as you can see in the picture) - I was really struck by how smoothly he could glide around on it.

I have found more reviews on Amazon - not everyone is completely happy with these scooters, so it's worth getting a balanced view if you are thinking of buying one.
